Untitled 6 (veil)

Their house was small
But homely
A quatrain of
Ill-used phrases

They commuted from
Dust to grease
Sex to grace
Lap to cushion
With a fine timeliness
Wont to abuse silence
Chaste in use of love

On Sundays they cooked
Cabbage and steak
And trusted the cat
To use good sense
When letting itself in
Through the cracked window
Repaired with silver gauze
